FOREWORD

      This has been the hardest book for me to write because knowledge about growing marijuana has been increasing at a geometric rate. Just as one method of cultivation has reached the apex of efficiency totally new technologies enter the picture. The new methods offer significant advantages and will probably eclipse the old systems in popularity. My publisher patiently waited while I tried to solve my dilemma. I didn’t want to write a book about a dinosaur, and I did not have enough hard information about the new developments.
      As the deadlines came and went I still contemplated my dilemma. Then one evening while attending a Grateful Dead concert; I saw how to precipitate the information. In this book I finally let my hair down. I have tried to detail information about "closet cultivation" in an informal way; to explain the madness behind the method. I hope that you find the book interesting informative and inspiring.

The first days are the hardest days,
don't you worry any more
When life looks like Easy Street,
there is danger at your door
Think this through with me,
let me know your mind
What I want to know is,
Are you kind?

It's a buck-dancer's choice my friend
Better take my advice
You know all the rules by now
And the fire from the ice . . .

From "Uncle John's Band"
By Robert Hunter, The Grateful Dead

      This book is dedicated to the Scythians, who knew how to get high, even if they did not have a pipe or papers.
